OUR STORY
The Stranded Wailers are a Hobart-based sea shanty singing group with over 50 casual members, about 20 of whom perform regularly. Founded to foster camaraderie through story and song, we’ve evolved to unite and engage audiences of all ages with spirited performances and workshops. Drawing from traditional seafaring tunes, we revel in the simple pleasure of singing together.

In July 2025, we’ve been invited to two notable Western Australian Shanty Festivals:
Bunbury Sea Shanty Festival July 4th-6th 2025
Albany International Folk ’n' Shanty Festival July 11th-13th 2025
By attending these festivals, we aim to:
Represent Tasmania and our rich maritime and musical culture on a national stage.
Advocate for the mental health benefits and power of communal singing.
Connect with fellow shanty enthusiasts from around the world and bring fresh ideas back to our local communities.

ANCHORS AWEIGH - $1500+
Includes one live performance or workshop of up to 1 hour, a dedicated spotlight on our website and socials, and logo placement on select promotional materials.
FULL SAIL - $3000+
Offers a large-scale performance and/or workshop at your Hobart-area event or festival, prominent branding on t-shirts and event signage, potential media inclusion, and special recognition at local events for 12 months.
CAPTAIN’S CIRCLE - $5000+
Provides prime visibility across all platforms, a custom performance and/or workshop tailored to your needs, first refusal for future marquee events, tailored collaborations, and personal mentions at major gigs and festival appearances such as the Festival of Voices and Cygnet Folk Festival for 12 months.
